10 Years of…Pro Bono
Since 2010, NMILC has relied on pro bono attorneys to increase our capacity to serve our immigrant communities. Last year 55 pro bono attorneys and 12 pro bono medical professionals volunteered more than 780 service hours to our community.
10 Years of…Economic Justice
Even in a global pandemic, undocumented families and businesses aren't eligible for vital federal, state, or local economic relief packages including SBA loans, PPP loans, and unemployment insurance. In response, our Economic Justice team shifted to a remote model to help entrepreneurs find emergency resources and workers process worker mistreatment complaints.
10 Years of…Assisting Asylum seekers
Our Asylum Team provides free pro se assistance to individuals seeking asylum: a form of immigration relief that can lead to citizenship for people fleeing persecution. Occasionally, the team offers full representation in these cases.
10 Years of…SIJS
Special Immigrant Juvenile Status is a form of immigration relief for certain young people who have been abandoned, abused or neglected by one or both parents. This status provides a path to permanent residency for immigrant youth, and the goal of our SIJS Team is to never turn away a child eligible for SIJS.
